Project narrative

CBN03 is the smallest thing we draw, and the one with the clearest job. It is a room to work in - a studio at the end of a garden, or a writing cabin in the woods - with an operable window wall, an integrated standing desk, built-in storage and bookshelves, and a day bed for the middle of the afternoon.

It is deliberately simple to construct. It takes solar readily, it can be built on skids or on a trailer, and there is space for an electric heat source if it is going on-grid and being used year round.

The day bed built in under the window with storage drawers beneath it, the whole room lined in dark timber
A cutaway axonometric of the pod showing the desk, the day bed and the storage wall in plan
A construction detail drawing through the wall and roof junction, showing the assembly layer by layer
