Privacy policy — Offsite

This policy describes how Offsite Camp, Inc. ("Offsite," "we," "us") collects, uses and discloses information through www.offsite.camp (this "Site"). By using the Site you agree to this policy and to our terms and conditions.

This policy covers this Site only. Our software products are operated under separate policies and account terms: see aldo.offsite.camp. Where the two differ, the policy on the property you are using governs that property.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us. The Site has forms for project inquiries, email sign-up and artist residency applications. Depending on the form, these ask for your name, email address, telephone number, a link to your work, a project location, and any description you choose to write. You decide what to submit. Do not submit sensitive personal information or confidential material through this Site.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, this Site and its hosting and analytics providers automatically receive technical information including your IP address, device and browser type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, and dates and times of access. This information may be collected through cookies and similar technologies.

2. Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the Site is used. It sets cookies and transmits usage information to Google, which processes it under its own terms and policies. You may block cookies in your browser or install Google's opt-out browser add-on; the Site remains usable either way.

We also set one cookie of our own the first time you arrive. It records where you came from: any campaign tags in the link you followed, the site that referred you, and the page you landed on. If you later create an account for our software at aldo.offsite.camp, that record is attached to the account, so we can tell which channels bring people to us. It contains no name, no email address and nothing you typed, it is read only by us, and it expires after 180 days. Clearing your cookies removes it.

The zoning pages at /zoning/ carry the Meta advertising pixel, because that section is the way into our software product and we advertise that product on Facebook and Instagram. The pixel tells Meta that a visit happened, which lets us measure those ads and show them to people who have read these pages. No other part of the Site runs an advertising pixel, and we do not host advertising anywhere on it. You can limit how Meta uses this in your Facebook or Instagram ad settings. We do not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals, as no common standard for them has been adopted.

3. How we use information

To respond to inquiries, applications and messages you send us
To provide, maintain, secure and improve the Site
To send email you have asked to receive, and to manage those subscriptions
To keep business records of prospective and actual client relationships
To detect, prevent and address fraud, abuse, security incidents and technical issues
To comply with law and to establish, exercise or defend legal claims

Where the GDPR or similar law applies, we rely on your consent (for marketing email), our legitimate interests (operating and securing the Site, responding to inquiries, maintaining business records), and compliance with legal obligations.

4. How information is shared

We share information with service providers who process it on our behalf, under contract and for the purposes described above. These currently include Cloudflare (hosting and content delivery), Google (analytics), Meta (advertising measurement for the zoning pages), Mailchimp (email lists), Resend (transactional email), and Notion (business records). We may add, change or replace service providers.

We may also disclose information where we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, subpoena or other legal process; to enforce our terms; to protect the rights, property or safety of Offsite, our users or others; or in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition or sale of all or part of our business or assets.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own direct marketing.

5. Email

If you are on our mailing list it is because you asked to be, or you asked us about working together. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, which we honour promptly. We may still send you messages necessary to respond to an inquiry or an application you submitted.

6. Retention

We keep information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including maintaining business records, resolving disputes and complying with legal obligations, after which we delete it or de-identify it.

7. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures intended to protect information we hold. No website, transmission or storage system is completely secure, and we cannot and do not guarantee the security of information you transmit to us. You submit information at your own risk.

8. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of personal information we hold about you, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and other states with comprehensive privacy laws, and individuals in the UK and EEA, may have additional rights, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them.

To make a request, email brian@offsite.camp. We may need to verify your identity before acting, and we will respond within the time required by applicable law.

9. Location of processing

Offsite is based in the United States and information we collect is processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate. Those countries may not provide the same level of data protection as your own. By using the Site you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States.

10. Children

The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, email us and we will delete it.

11. Third-party sites

The Site links to municipal codes, mapping services, publications and other websites we do not control. This policy does not apply to them, and we are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The revised version takes effect when posted here, with the date at the top updated. Your continued use of the Site after that constitutes acceptance.
