Privacy policy

Offsite is a design and development studio based in Brooklyn, New York. This page covers www.offsite.camp. Our software runs on separate subdomains - aldo.offsite.camp and zoning.offsite.camp - and Aldo has its own account terms, because it has accounts and this site does not.

What we collect

Only two things: what you type into a form, and anonymous analytics about how the site is used.

There are four forms here - the project brief on the home page, the contact page, the email sign-up on the writing page, and the residency application. Between them they ask for a name, an email address, a phone number, a link to your work, a location, and whatever you write about your project. You choose what to put in them. Nothing on this site requires an account and there is nothing to log into.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages get read. It sets cookies and Google processes that data on its own terms. It tells us that forty people read a piece about septic systems; it does not tell us who they were. If you would rather not be counted, any browser-level tracking block or Google's own opt-out add-on will stop it, and the site works exactly the same either way.

There is no advertising pixel on this site and no third-party ad network.

Where form submissions go

A form on this page posts to our own server, which then does one of two things depending on which form it was.

• Project inquiries and email sign-ups are emailed to us, added to our mailing list in Mailchimp, and recorded in our own client records in Notion, so that a conversation started here is still findable in six months.
• Residency applications are emailed to us and nothing else. They are not added to the mailing list and not put into client records. Applying for the residency is not a request to be marketed to.

Those three companies - Mailchimp, Notion and Resend, who send the mail - process this data on our behalf under their own terms. The site itself is hosted by Cloudflare. We do not sell anything to anybody, and we do not share your details with other companies for their own marketing.

Mailing list

If you are on the list it is because you asked to be. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link, it works immediately, and we do not ask why.

How long we keep it

Inquiries and client records are kept while there is a live or plausible working relationship, and reviewed periodically after that. Residency applications are kept for the season they were submitted for and the one after it. Analytics data follows Google's retention settings.

Your rights

Email brian@offsite.camp and ask. You can have a copy of what we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted. We are a small studio and this is not a process - a person reads it and answers. Depending on where you live you may have these rights under the GDPR or under California law; we will honour the request regardless of where you live rather than check whether we have to.

Children

This site is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 16.

Changes

If this changes, the date at the top changes with it.
